Tensile and Fatigue Characteristics of WC-20wt%Co Cemented Carbide with Sintering Methods

WC-Co cemented carbide has excellent mechanical properties and is widely used in many industrial applications including cold forging die cutting tools. manufactured by liquid phase sintering (LPS), a new process for densification been developed. In this study, cylindrical rod shaped tensile fatigue specimens of WC-20wt%Co were fabricated using commercial methods such as vacuum (VS), low pressure (LP), sinter HIP (S-HIP), after sintering(VS+HIP). The effect the on microstructure, life was investigated. relative density average size WC particles increased additional treatment. Also large abnormal observed. test, deviation (maximum strength, elongation) minimized VS+HIP specimen due to densification. Based uniaxial tensile-compression SN curve concluded be log?a = -0.11244logNf +3.66817. Furthermore, increase particle caused have lower than VS specimen. However, when high applied during process, internal defects standard reduced.
